We work alongside our athlete’s coaching staff to reinforce and elevate key teachings — not to replace them. Our mentorship focuses on building a trusted relationship, helping improve mindset, preparation, accountability, and hockey IQ, ensuring players grow as athletes and individuals. We’re here to amplify the coach’s message, not compete with it.

 

2. Strategic Consulting

Back2Back is not an agency — we collaborate directly with agents, providing an added layer of support for their clients through development planning, video coaching, feedback loops, and recruitment guidance. Our role is to help guide, align, and inform — not to negotiate deals.

The Harsh Reality of the Hockey Landscape

• Massive Competition: Over 578,000 USA Hockey players are chasing a limited number of elite opportunities.

• Limited Spots: With just 64 Division I programs, each carrying 26–30 players, there are only about 1,664 total roster spots nationwide.

• Scholarship Pressure: The landscape has now changed with the Canadian Hockey League players being added to the pool of players for NCAA. This means less restriction for junior hockey choices but an abundance of players for the NCAA programs.

• Transfer Portal Chaos: In 2026, over 300 D1 players entered the portal, with past numbers of 1 in 4 failing to return to Division I hockey.

High Financial Investment: Families are already spending thousands per year on travel, showcases, and private training but are they investing their time wisely?

 

 

Each athlete that is part of Back2Back Hockey will receive:

• Gain a trusted honest ally to the athlete and family.

• Video coaching. We will develop a plan to receive shifts of each player and plan to review athlete’s shifts. Video coaching with NHL, NCAA and CHL teachings as part of plan. 

• Discussions and material to improve our athlete’s mindset.

• Discussions and material on books to read and the messaging as a takeaway. Helping athletes find the answers from within.

• Helping players learn to regulate their emotions and plans to overcome adversity by shifting their lens perspective to view failure as an opportunity to grow.
